Global Recruitment Head - Soft Serve
For Olha Buzovska, a career in talent acquisition wasn’t part of the original plan—it was an opportunity she discovered after earning her degree in linguistics.
Her first recruiting role came with a small Florida-based company hiring recent graduates. After joining and completing the company's training program, she quickly realized she had found the right career.
“I just knew that I liked it,” she says. “Talking to people, finding opportunities for those people, and seeing them build successful careers—that’s what kept me in recruiting.”
One of her earliest successes came when she filled two logistics management roles for a client that had been considered nearly impossible to recruit for. Those hires stayed with the company for nearly a decade, reinforcing for Olha the lasting impact recruiters can have on people's careers.
For her, recruiting combines everything she enjoys: communication, networking, relationship-building, and the opportunity to connect great people with meaningful opportunities.
Seeing the Bigger Picture
Olha credits one leader in particular with expanding her perspective on what talent acquisition could accomplish.
When she joined SoftServe, she was initially hired to focus on executive recruiting. Her manager challenged her to think beyond individual vacancies and instead understand how recruiting could directly influence the company's long-term growth.
That broader vision transformed her own career.
What began as an individual contributor role eventually grew into leading large-scale hiring initiatives and managing a team of 11 recruiters. During one particularly high-growth period, SoftServe completed approximately 5,000 hires in a single year, with Olha leading hiring efforts for sales talent that helped fuel the company's continued expansion.
Looking back, she says her biggest lesson was understanding how recruiting contributes directly to business growth—and how growing organizations create opportunities for recruiters to grow alongside them.
AI as an Opportunity, Not a Threat
Olha views artificial intelligence as one of the most positive developments currently shaping recruiting.
She believes AI has tremendous potential to improve candidate experience by increasing response speed, automating routine communication, and streamlining early-stage screening.
Candidates can receive quicker feedback, recruiters can eliminate repetitive administrative work, and hiring teams can move faster through the process.
At the same time, she believes there remains an important role that only recruiters can fill.
While AI can accelerate sourcing and screening, final-stage conversations, negotiations, relationship-building, and helping candidates feel excited about joining an organization still require a human connection.
Advice for Talent Leaders
Olha encourages recruiting leaders to embrace AI as a tool that strengthens recruiting teams rather than replacing them.
Technology should be used to simplify processes, reduce manual work, and allow recruiters to focus on higher-value conversations.
Her philosophy is simple:
People hire people.
AI can make recruiting faster and more efficient, but meaningful hiring decisions are still built on trust, relationships, and authentic human interaction.
As recruiting continues to evolve, Olha believes the organizations that combine modern technology with genuine human connection will create the strongest hiring outcomes.
