Talent Acquisition Manager - ChangeMakers

For Shari Wadioli, recruiting began with a simple desire to help bring great people into organizations she believed in.

Early in her career, Shari was working at Apple when she expressed interest in becoming more involved in recruitment and talent initiatives. Recognizing her enthusiasm and potential, her managers gave her the opportunity to help hire students for Apple’s summer campus programs while also supporting hiring efforts for the Red Zone and Genius Bar teams.

That experience sparked something bigger.

What started as an opportunity inside retail recruitment quickly evolved into a long-term passion for talent acquisition and people leadership.

From there, Shari transitioned into another recruitment opportunity with Victoria’s Secret before expanding her experience across agency recruiting, finance, marketing, and technology organizations.

Over the years, she built experience working with organizations such as Robert Half, marketing agencies, and even LinkedIn as a contractor. Today, she serves as a Talent Acquisition Manager at ChangeMakers, where she has continued growing as a recruiting leader over the past two years.

For Shari, every chapter of her journey helped shape a broader understanding of how recruiting impacts both businesses and people.

What Shaped Her Leadership Philosophy

Throughout her career, several leaders played a significant role in helping shape the recruiter and leader Shari has become today.

One of the first was Sapna Misery, a leader Shari worked with during her time at Apple. Sapna not only opened the door for Shari’s first recruiting opportunity, but also encouraged her to fully pursue a career in HR and talent acquisition.

That encouragement ultimately helped guide her into larger recruitment opportunities, including her transition into retail recruitment with Victoria’s Secret.

Another major influence was Pina Nicoli, whom Shari worked alongside at Match Marketing Group. Shari credits Pina with giving her the opportunity to lead one of the biggest projects of her career at the time: hiring teams across Canada for Wow Mobile Boutique.

As the lead and sole recruiter supporting the expansion of more than ten cellular locations, Shari worked closely with Pina to scale hiring efforts while maintaining a strong focus on talent quality and candidate experience.

“She was a huge source of expertise, knowledge, and wisdom,” Shari shared.

Their professional relationship continued over the years, including crossing paths again during Shari’s time at Robert Half Technology.

Shari also credits her current leader, Luann Patton, Chief People Officer at ChangeMakers, as someone who continues to elevate her growth as a talent leader.

According to Shari, Luann has challenged her to move beyond transactional recruiting and step more fully into an advisory role alongside executives and hiring managers.

From implementing new tools to improving executive communication and strategic influence, Luann’s mentorship has helped Shari continue evolving into a stronger, more strategic leader.

How AI Is Reshaping Recruiting

Shari believes the rapid rise of AI has created one of the most transformative periods the recruiting industry has ever experienced.

Rather than viewing AI as a threat, she sees it as an opportunity for recruiters to elevate their role and operate at a much higher strategic level.

“I think this is a time where the work that we do has been amplified,” she explained.

For Shari, AI tools are allowing recruiters to move beyond simply filling roles and instead position themselves as true subject matter experts and trusted advisors within organizations.

From sourcing technology to transcription tools and automation platforms, she believes recruiters now have access to an unprecedented number of resources that can improve efficiency, strengthen hiring decisions, and create better candidate experiences.

At the same time, Shari believes the growing importance of AI is actually increasing the need for human connection in recruiting.

“There’s more of a call for a humanistic experience,” she shared.

By automating repetitive administrative work, recruiters gain more time to focus on meaningful conversations, relationship-building, and strategic talent partnerships.

Shari specifically highlighted the value of AI-powered interview transcription and conversation recording tools, which allow recruiters to remain fully present during candidate conversations instead of focusing on note-taking.

For her, the future of recruiting belongs to leaders who embrace technology while still prioritizing empathy, communication, and authentic human interaction.

Shari’s Advice for Talent Leaders in 2026

As recruiting continues evolving alongside AI, Shari encourages talent leaders to lean into emerging technologies rather than resist them.

Her advice is simple: embrace AI early and learn how to use it strategically.

According to Shari, the recruiters who will thrive in the future are the ones willing to adopt tools that improve efficiency, strengthen sourcing strategies, and allow them to operate more strategically.

She believes AI gives talent professionals the opportunity to focus less on repetitive administrative tasks and more on high-value work like advising executives, strengthening DEI initiatives, building relationships, and improving hiring strategy.

“Use the tools to do smarter work,” she explained.

At the same time, Shari believes the future of recruiting will still depend heavily on human-centered leadership.

Technology can improve workflows and productivity, but the recruiters who truly stand out will be the ones who combine AI fluency with emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and genuine connection.

That balance between innovation, people-first leadership, and continuous growth is what makes Shari Wadioli a standout voice in modern talent acquisition—and a deserving member of the Talent 100.
